One Step Closer

Well, Eric and I *think* we have a date and location picked for our wedding. At least we hope we do. We're waiting for a confirmation phone call. Which may not come until Tuesday. I hate waiting!

Regardless, it was a productive weekend. Nothing beats actually seeing things for yourself and talking face to face with the people you're working with. Once we confirm the location and date, we're half way there. That's the key component that dictates most of everything else!

But I'm not much less nervous yet. I won't be less nervous until we get things confirmed. In the meantime, my mind isn't going to settle - always thinking the worst is going happen.

The Weekend Ahead... and Beyond

So this is to be the first weekend of 'hard core' wedding planning. I'm actually flying down to FL to meet Eric (he's already there for work) to *hopefully* nail down a location and date for the wedding. We've done some 'soft' planning thus far... looking up things online, making a few contacts with venues... but this weekend, we're seeing the places and talking to some people face to face.

At this point, we have a first choice month, and the a back-up month. That's right... month. Not too narrowed down yet. We're trying to keep flexible knowing that when you go for the destination, you have to usually work with what dates they have available. So we'll soon find out how realistic our thoughts are.

The other big thing that should happen this weekend - the budget. Once we have a place picked out with their fees and rates, we can put everything else together. Hopefully.

I have to say, I'm a little nervous. This is a one time thing. Gotta pick the right place. Want to get the best for our money. Don't want to regret anything...

So for anyone who's planned a wedding, I'd love a little advice on how to keep things in perspective. And for those who've done the destination thing, I'd love some advice on how to do that, too!

Wish me luck!

Mental Note

I need to remember for next year that January SUCKS at work! It's finally winding down... because it's the end of the month.

Since I deal with certain government agencies (that shall remain nameless), they're doing all their budget crunching right now - which is ultimately good for us. But during January, I have so much data/information to gather and update... it takes SO much time and frustration! I was thrilled to be able to be done at 5pm today... even though I really shouldn't have been. But I just couldn't take anymore!

So I just keep thinking... two more days. Actually, just a day and a half... I'm gone at noon on Friday! Florida, here I come... though that'll be stressful, too, probably... wedding planning!

Playoffs??

So I am a lucky girl and got to go to not one, but two playoff games - the AFC divisional game, Ravens @ Colts, and the AFC Championship, Jets @ Colts. Eric has no idea how lucky he is to be a season ticket holder at this point - he has been for 10 years now, so I think he tends to take the games for granted. But I remind him. Often.

The Baltimore game was kind of a snoozer... they just did not come to play! But the jets game was way more exciting. I thought they had it won the first half... until they came back the second half and didn't put a score on the board! So it made for an exciting game, at least. Well, until close to the end when it started becoming very obvious they Colts were going to win.

So now they're onto the Super Bowl! Of course, I'd rather if it was my Jags... but they just haven't been the same caliber team since Jack took over. That's my opinion, anyway.

No Too Much Here...

So I know I haven't posted much in awhile. This is because I've been crazy busy at work and aside from that, there hasn't been too much excitement in my life.

Eric and I have been trying to nail down a date and location for the wedding... which has been a little difficult between our two work schedules. But we're working on it. People have been asking and I wish I had more details to share at this point. They'll come soon, hopefully.

Other than that, it's just been a dreary winter in Indiana. My last post noted how it finally got above freezing... but the sun still hasn't come out. Dreary weather really gets to me, too. So that may be part of the lack of excitement - I just want to curl up on the couch under a blanket when it's like that outside.

Oh well. Hopefully I can post more excitement soon.

304 Hours

304 Hours. Over 12 days. Nearly two weeks.

That's how long we stayed below the freezing mark (32 degrees!). The last time we were above freezing was last year - literally! New Year's Eve Day... BEFORE I got back to Indiana! I arrived that evening, and it was already well below the freezing mark. And never rose above the freezing mark again...

Until today.

I was not built for these temperatures. I never thought I'd say I'm looking forward to the forecasted temperatures in the 40's in the upcoming week...

First Snow of 2010

We always seem to get our first real snowfall/snowstorm in January every year. This year was no exception!

It started during the morning rush hour on Thursday. Why Mother Nature loves to torture us during rush hour, I do not know. But that's the way it always seems to happen. The bulk of the snow fell in the late morning, though, and then taper off through the evening.

On Friday, it was off and on, only adding a minimal amount and on Saturday was much of the same... until recently, when it actually stopped. The sun even looked to try to come out around noon, and eventually did!

I shoveled the first time Thursday after work and was helped out about halfway through by a neighbor with a snowblower! I have great neighbors! Then I just finished up shoveling again to get the last of it off my driveway. All in all, I got around 6" of snow at my house. This is something I will miss when I move downtown - the large, open areas blanketed in snow, whether it's mmultiple yards joined together or the large, vast farm fields. Not to mention the snow downtown gets dirty really quick! So I'm enjoying the moment...

A New Year

2010 has started on a low key, relaxing note so far. Which is fine by me, because this year is set to be a busy one!

Eric and I brought in the New Year sitting on my couch, watching the ball drop. Eric was under the weather, and my plane got in almost an hour-and-a-half late, so I was beat myself. We went to bed shortly after midnight - but neither of us saw fault in that!

The rest of the weekend was much of the same. Well, except for Auburn's bowl game against Northwestern. I got a little riled up about that. What a game!! I did not expect it to be such a close game to begin with, and the overtime almost gave me a heart attack!! How many more ways could we have possibly given the Wildcats to try to beat us?? Thankfully, Auburn pulled out the win with an awareness of their final trick play.

So now we look forward to the new year and all it has to bring us. There will be wedding planning, of course, as well as me packing up and moving downtown with Eric. I'm not looking forward to all that packing - I've been in my house for nearly eight years. It'll definitely be a process! Stay tuned for an eventful year!
